A stunning Red Wine formed within the strict DOC guidelines. Derived from the precious Aglianico grape, vinified in contact with the skins for a long period and at a controlled temperature. This results in an intense ruby colour with delicate scents of red fruits, strawberries and raspberries. The flavour is dry, harmonious and velvety. This wine goes well with game, red meats and hard cheeses. Ideally served at a temperature range of 16-18°C.

Description

Aglianico Sannio 2016 D.O.C 13% (Red)

Farming of grapes: This wine is obtained from the Aglianico grape, grown in limestone-clay soils at an altitude of 150- 350 m.a.s.l. Located on the slopes of the Regional Park of Taburno-Camposauro.  An espalier farming system is employed giving a yield of 110 hectares from vines with an average age of 20 years.  The harvest takes place during the month of October.

Vinification: The grapes are harvested by hand and conferred to the winery. There follows the de-stemming and soft pressing.  The vinification is carried out by maceration with the skins, which are continuously re-submerged into the must for 20 days. The fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. The wine is then aged in large oak casks for at least 6 months, finalising with maturation in the bottle.

Please note: DOC stands for Denominazione di Origine Controllata (DOC), which translates in English to a controlled destination of origin. The results are wines that are produced in a specific, well-defined region. They have to follow a stricter process than an IGP and must adhere to the governing rules, only after this can they use the high-quality classification of a DOC.
